Surf photographer in Imsouane
Imsouane, Morocco· 30.8403, -9.8236
Home of one of the longest right-hand waves in Africa, a fishing port and endless sunsets.
Imsouane sits on a cliff between two bays. The Bay is a slow, peeling right that can run for hundreds of metres, a dream for longboarders and learners. Cathedral, on the other side of the village, is a faster, punchier wave for experienced surfers.
Between sessions, the fishing port fills with blue boats and the smell of grilled sardines. It is my home, and the place I know best to photograph.
Best seasons & light
October – April
Main swell season. Long rides in the bay, uncrowded weekdays.
May – September
Smaller waves, glassy mornings and the warmest evening light.
Golden hour
The hour before sunset: the sun lights the bay from behind the cliff.
